Summer is here and with it comes more time with our youth.
June 2nd, 2014: We start our 6 week program, Run With US and ITA! The program will have a few adjustments that we hope will only be for the best. This year, Beatriz Waddell, a long time ITA volunteer tutor and now Spanish coordination for The San Luis Valley Local Food Coalition will join us and take over the nutrition part. She will teach the class on Tuesdays from 5:00p.m to 6:30p.m The parents are encouraged to join the kids. We are so looking forward to join forces and make their nutrition class an exciting one.
I will be in charge of the other two components: Fitness and Goal Setting. We will meet on Monday and Wednesday from 6:30 to 8:00p.m The San Luis Valley Immigrant Resource Center will be providing us with snacks. In our fitness curriculum we will add biking (bike around town once ) and basket ball ( a small tournament between kids).
The main goal will be gain fitness and beat our mile record times by end of program and if all works out the class will participate in the 4th of July Race downtown in Alamosa. We all are looking forward to be part of the parade as we felt it gave us confidence and acknowledgement. It was nice to show the community what it was like to be part of In The Arena.
